Happy weekend all! Can you believe it's the last weekend of July? I definitely cannot. Considering how un-amazing the weather has been here in Seattle, my fingers are crossed for an Indian summer. But, then again, there is also a part of me that is wishing for cold weather, green tea, and polka dot sweaters. I truly can not make up my mind.

I'm really excited for this weekend. The boy and I are doing our first official date night since being here at a cute wine bar. I can't wait. Tomorrow, my parents are coming to visit with their pup and we are going to picnic at Green Lake and take the dogs for a swim after. For a dog with four inch legs, our corgi Frankie thinks he was born to swim the English channel. It's pretty cute.


And, potentially the most exciting part of the weekend is that our custom couch is being delivered tomorrow! We agonized over countless fabric swatches and furniture feet over eight weeks ago and its finally built and being delivered tomorrow. I will definitely post pictures, but only after I hit its silver feet with my can of trusty gold spray paint. Why is it that gold metal furniture feet do not exist? Sometimes, you just have to get things done yourself.

Trend Spotting // Malachite

If you saw this post a few weeks ago, you know that I'm opening up to the idea of green. While I used to forget about this color in my wardrobe and my home, now, I can't get enough. I'm especially loving malachite - a emerald colored stone that has had it's gorgeous pattern and color incorporated into interiors as of late. I just love the idea of a pop of it. A whole room is too much in my opinion, but a piece of furniture with its face covered in it, well, that's just perfect.

Fabulous Fashionista // Poppy Delevigne

I never knew who Poppy Delevigne was until recently. I kept seeing photos of the statuesque blonde in blue polka dot pants (see below) and knew I had to find out who she was. Her style was just too good. A few hours of internet "research" later, I found out that the young beauty is an English model and socialite. So yes, she is a model, which explains a good portion of why she photographs so well but the girl also has a killer since of style. That can't be denied.

Hope everyone survived their week! I started Bar Method on Tuesday and like a crazy person, thought it'd be a good idea to go for three days straight. Needless to say, I'm incredibly sore but in a good way. Soreness means progress, or at least that is what I have to tell myself.

This weekend, besides the rain (what gives Seattle? It's July!), promises to be a fun one. We are going to go to Capital Hill block party, a music festival, meeting up with my parents for lunch tomorrow, and are going to take the dog on a long hike on Sunday. Oh, and there is a possibility our couch might arrive, finally!

Black Matte Walls

I know what you're thinking, "Wow, she is into goth decorating now? She has changed." But hear me out; the days of the taupe wall are over. It's all about high contrast now, whether that be with white walls and dark floors or black walls with beautiful rugs. Black is no longer a color used only on the of bedrooms of angry fourteen year-old boys, its now making its presence in some of the most glamorous houses in America. I happen to love it, though probably something I'll hold off on until I own my own home. I can only imagine how many layers of white it would take to cover. Until now, I'll daydream on Pinterest.

You pretty much needed to live under a rock for the last year to not know who Jennifer Lawrence is. The young star of Hunger Games, she catapulted to fame in late 2011, introducing the world to her simple take on classics. Her style mixes 1990's structure, 1980's fabrics, and modern colors with a 1940's starlet's body; she proves a fit, curvaceous woman can look better in clothes than the 90 pound super model. Women everywhere - thank her!

Hot Child in the City

A funny thing has happened to my style lately; a transition of sorts has taken place, from stripes and J.Crew (as is typical in the Summer) to edge and Shopbop. While I considered myself a city girl in Portland, I can't say that I lived right downtown like I do now in Seattle. It's changed me. I have a sudden need for all things silk or with a hint of tailoring. I climb hills in four inch heels. I live for a sleek ponytail. Maybe this weekend's trip back down to Portland will help me remember my love of stripes and girly details. We shall see.

Thursday Thrills // Special Edition

Instead of the usual Thursday Thrills post this morning, I thought I'd pay attention to a special event that takes place every year about this time: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. For as long as I can remember, my mom and I have celebrated the event by a full day shopping and craziness. As is tradition, I'll be driving down to Portland this weekend specifically to go to the sale with my mom. It'll be full of power bars and dressing rooms, just the way I like it!

There are three things that I know about Sienna Miller:

1. She was in Alfie.
2. Jude Law cheated on her with his nannie. Let's just think for a moment on where both their lives ended up... yeah, she got the better end of the deal.
3. I have severe jealously of her style.

Sienna mixes edgy British rock style with Parisian glamour and I can't get enough of it. Never too girly, never too edgy, Sienna truly is one to make trend setting look easy. While I'm sure it doesn't hurt that she has incredible free clothes gifted to her by all the top designers and most likely employees a top stylist, it is obvious her own taste shines through all of that for one amazing look.

I first learned about Blake Lively when she starred in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Besides remembering that I wanted to immediately sign up for a soccer camp in Mexico, I remember how effortlessly beautiful Blake was. Fast forward a few years and I became envious of her once more as she transformed into Serena Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. While Blake isn't the best actress, her style is worth remembering. She manages to mix fifth avenue chic, timeless structure, and being a bombshell into one outfit - a talent worth developing.

Work It // Slimming Peplum

I saw this dress a few days ago and about died. Not only does it have peplum detailing to accentuate the waist, it has black contrasting sides to really give a slim illusion. Oh yeah, and it's a work appropriate length -  something that is actually hard to find these days. The best part? It's $79 bucks. Is anyone else starting to fall in love with Dorothy Perkin's dresses like I am?
