Cleanse Follow-Up

{via}

Instead of the usual Friday Favorites post, I thought I'd do a cleanse follow-up post, summarizing my results and take ways, and answer some questions for everyone.

Well, I'm happy to report that I finished the cleanse I wrote about here. I followed it exactly Tuesday through Thursday (without cheating!) and have been transitioning back to solids since. To do this, I ordered an extra days worth of juices and am spreading them out over the weekend.

So, as I'm sure many of you are wondering, what were the results? A little weight loss, though most likely just water weight. Slightly clearer skin. A lack of sweet tooth. A new appreciation for chewing. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that I had any more energy than normal or that my headaches got any better, leaving me to believe that my typical diet (though it could be improved) isn't that far off, meaning I didn't discover a gluten allergy or that dairy and meats don't sit well with my stomach.

Would I do a cleanse again? Maybe. I'd considering doing one again after the Holidays possibly. It proved to a be an effect and drastic way to reset my cravings and diet, which is great, but overall I felt it was too drastic for the results it yielded.

I hope that helps some of you who were considering doing a juice cleanse an better idea about them. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions I didn't answer!

  1. Good for you for sticking it out. I bet real food is tasting amazing right about now :)

    Could it be possible that your headaches could be attributed to caffeine addiction? I only ask because generally, when I'm experiencing a head ache and don't know what it's from, I usually realize at some point during the day that I forgot to get my morning coffee...

  2. Thank you for being honest about this! Some people go freaking crazy for cleanses, but it is hard for me to justify paying to starve myself... you know? I have been considering doing one for a couple months, but I have a feeling I would end up a little disappointed for some reason. Good call about doing it after the holidays. The amount of fat and nasty that I consume over the holidays is obscene. You rock Miranda!

    Have a fab 3-day weekend!

  3. Yeah I've heard on and off things about this. The other thing I guess would be if it REALLY worked how sustainable is it? Would be hard to follow.
