Always inspired by Gaby of The Vault File's series, I was really excited when I read the latest GOOP newsletter on spring fashion and found a savings opportunity of my own. The grand total of all Gwenyth's looks was over $20,000, a similar total to her fall fashion looks. Quick rant: I have to say, I don't think Gwenyth really knows her GOOP audience; at least, these posts make me question if she does. Who but a movie star, who gets most of their clothes free anyways, can afford a $20,000 spring wardrobe? Not many.
Anyways, rant complete, let's get back to the point of this post. When I was reading the newsletter, I quickly realized the Isabel Marant sandals featured (same ones as above) were a close cousin to the Salt Water Sandals I sported as a kid. My mother and I both loved those sandals; I loved them because they were comfy and fuss-free while my mother loved that they weren't Jelly Sandals and were cheap. Side note: the smell of Jelly Sandals make my mother gag to this day - makes me smile knowing she allowed me a pair of Jelly Sandals when I was younger but then quickly made them disappear.
So what do you think? Splurge for the quality and brand name associated with the Isabel Marant pair or go with a childhood classic with its ties to summer's past?

You're right! These do look very similar. I think they're a close enough match to save almost $400 and spend it on other things!
ReplyDeletecute sandals! great find! happy friday!
ReplyDeletedrop by allister bee soon!
Great find! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG! I thought the SAME thing when I clicked away on her clothes links. Gwyneth can afford it. Viv can't. Fabulous find, lady!
ReplyDeleteThese are so similar! Great find. I wonder if the salt water sandals would remind too much of being a kid? Either way, they are both adorable.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love finds like this!? Great one!
ReplyDeleteAh of course I'm really drawn to the expensive ones. Le sigh...
ReplyDeleteoooh i love these shoes! both of them! i dunno, the cheap ones are not that bad at all!!! and there is no way i'd spend $400 on shoes! lol not at this moment in life at least!
ReplyDeleteI use to live in saltwaters as a kid. I want a pair again, they're so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love Goop! Gwyneth curates some of the chicest finds! These sandals are so similar I'd save until they were an absolute necessity and splurge when the first pair's all worn out!

I can't help it -- I always have to splurge. It's a problem -- an expensive problem.

ok first of all, lets talk about this beautiful graphic that you created! love it!
ReplyDeletesecond of all, great job...those look so close. um, I've never heard of Isabel Marant
I'm so out of it.
I would say "save" since they are a summer sandal and won't be worn year round. Personally, when I buy sandals I keep in mind that in the summer I will wear them often!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! Actually like the "save" ones better. :)
ReplyDeleteThey're really pretty.. but it's too basic for a $400 shoes... I say "save"
ReplyDeleteLet us know which one you get. =)

Rock the salt waters!!! I agree with the comment about the $400+ ones being too basic for the pricepoint. XO brynn
ReplyDeleteI have to save on these and splurge on something else...great find!!
ReplyDeleteI'd be tempted to splurge in this situation! They're totally a classic sandal and I imagine they would get quite a bit of use! Oh how I miss my jelly sandals...
